Definition of Who Is A Criminal
President-elect Trump’s promise to deport immigrants who are criminals sounds similar to the immigration policy of President Obama, who given the direction to immigration agents to deport criminals too.
President Obama’s definition of a criminal immigrant includes those who pose a threat to national security, gang members and immigrants who have been convicted of felonies. His definition also includes immigrants convicted of three or more misdemeanor crimes or one serious misdemeanor. Under the Obama administration, immigrants who have been found guilty of traffic violations or of purely immigration-related crimes have not generally been targeted.
